The Louisville Scottish Rite Childhood Language Development Program is the mission of the Louisville Scottish Rite Foundation. The Program is for preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 5 diagnosed as having a treatable language disorder. The program is housed and administered by Cardinal Hill-Easter Seals of Louisville.
The goal of our program is to enable the children to enter school when therapy is complete. Each child receives therapy once a week at an average cost of $120 per hour. It is estimated that more than 900 Greater Louisville area children need therapy each year, so there are many children that need our help. The Louisville Scottish Rite Foundation provides $85,000 annually for the administration of the program. Charges are based on a sliding scale to those able to pay, and provides the program free of charge to those who are unable to pay. No one is turned away for inability to pay.
The Louisville Scottish Rite Childhood Language Development Program began in 1985 with the incorporation of the Louisville Scottish Rite Foundation as a not-for-profit corporation. The program is successful and expanding. We receive generous support from the membership of the Louisville Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Also, the community supports us by subscribing to our major fundraising events; an annual Golf Scramble, Bowl-A-Rama, and a Magic Show. Several area businesses offer a payroll deduction match to benefit the Foundation. We have recently received a generous grant from Kosair Charities.
